Vegetarian Snacks Continued
Here are a few more easy vegetarian snacks. These are great if you are snacking alone or want to serve scrumptious snacks to guests.
Many of these recipes are also great for a vegetarian breakfast or desert.
Pretzels and Chocolate
This is one of my favorite snacks when I'm craving something chocolate, which is almost always. It is also a tasty, quick dessert.
Grab a bag of your favorite brand of pretzels and dip them in Nutella or another chocolate dip. Frosting also works well. Add some peanut butter or almond butter for extra protein!
Lay orange slices on a plate. Drizzle on a few table spoons of olive oil and sprinkle liberally with black pepper.
This may sound extremely weird, but my family often serves this with meals during the holidays and this seasoning gives the oranges a unique flavor.
Pretzels with Melted Cheese
Cheese dip makes a wonderful, filling snack for vegetarians. I love to enjoy it with pretzels, but it also tastes great on tortilla chips and other salty snack foods.
Combine 1/2 cup of shredded cheese or a block of cheese chopped into fairly small pieces and 2-3 tablespoons of milk. Use more or less milk depending on the consistency of sauce that you like. Stir together well.
Microwave on high for 30 seconds, then stir again. Continue melting cheese in 15-30 second increments while stir in-between cycles, until cheese is melted. Add more milk and/or cheese as you go, if needed.
This recipe is intended for one or two people. Adjust accordingly, based on the number of guests you plan to serve.
Sweet Trail Mix over Yogurt or Ice Cream
Combine about 1/2 cup of a sugary cereal, such as Cocoa Puffs or Fruit Loops, 2-3 tablespoons of nuts, a handful of pretzels, and slices of fresh fruit. Add the fruit last, unless you decide to use dried fruit
Top over any flavor ice cream or yogurt. Vegan or non-dairy substitutes for either of these will taste just as good.
This recipe is also a good dessert or breakfast. Sometimes I had a handful of chocolate chips or candy, if I'm in the mood for something sweet.
