Fruity Vegetarian Desserts

Want a to enjoy vegetarian desserts without too many calories and have some nutritional value? Try one of these yummy dessert recipes!

Make them vegan desserts by using non-dairy substitutes for ice cream, yogurt, and chocolate that is included in these recipes.

Banana Shake

All you need is a banana, 1 cup of ice, and about 1/2 cup of plain, low-fat ice cream. Make this a vegan dessert by using a non-dairy substitute for ice cream, such as Rice Dream or coconut milk ice cream.

Combine banana, ice cream, and a portion of the ice in a blender and use a lower setting. Gradually add more ice until you reach the desired texture of you banana shake. For more ideas to make vegetarian desserts with bananas, check out this post about banana recipes!

Easy Strawberry and Chocolate Fondue

Slice strawberries into bite-sized pieces. Put each piece on a toothpick.

Pour about 1 cup of chocolate syrup in a small, microwave safe bowl and heat in the microwave on high for 15- 30 seconds or until warm.

Stir lightly.

Dip strawberries on toothpicks into the chocolate sauce. Don't feel like melting chocolate? Nutella or even chocolate icing works well too. Great for sharing with friends and family!

Banana Split

Place medium to large banana in a bowl or ice cream dish. Top the banana with any flavor of ice cream.

Don't be afraid to experiment with different flavors! My favorite kinds to use for this is a combination of strawberry and chocolate.

Top ice cream with fresh cherries, chopped strawberries or even banana slices.

If you don't like bananas, try making a variation of this recipe by using whole strawberries, mango slices, or any other type of fruit.

Decadent Fruit Kabobs

This desert recipe is a variation of the fruit kabobs recipe that is included in a post about easy vegetarian snacks.

It is one of my favorite vegetarian desserts to make for my friends, so I hope you enjoy it!

Slice fruit into bite-sized pieces. Any kind of fruit is fine, but I've noticed that berries and grapes work particularly well.

Slide fruit onto a skewer. Wooden, disposable skewers are readily available at grocery stores, if you don't have metal ones.

Roll fruit kabob in plain, low-fat yogurt. Then, roll the kabob again in shredded coconut, chocolate sauce or chopped nuts.

Depending on the fruit and topping that I cover them in, I sometimes drizzle a little caramel on them.

These fruity vegetarian are wonderful when you are craving something sweet and refreshing.

As I said above, all of these yummy desert recipes can be made into vegan desserts by using non-dairy substitutes.
