Pancake Recipe

Preparing a popular vegetarian breakfast is easy if you know a good pancake recipe. I love to make pancakes for my family when I can because they are a good vegetarian breakfast.

While using a mix is convenient, making pancakes from scratch doesn't take much more time or effort.

For this tasty vegetarian breakfast, you'll need:

1 1/2 cups of flour
3 teaspoons of baking powder
1 teaspoon of salt
1 large egg (or the equivalent of any egg substitute)
1 cup of milk (or milk substitute)
3 tablespoons of butter or margarine (melt before adding to batter)
2 tablespoons of sugar

Before you do anything else, set a medium to large pan on the stove on a medium heat setting. Go ahead and coat it with cooking spray or butter.

By warming up the pan before you start making the pancake recipe, the pancakes will cook faster and you can eat sooner. My family usually huddles around the kitchen when I make pancakes, so this makes a big difference to me.

Combine the dry ingredients in a medium to large mixing bowl first. Then, add the liquid ingredients. I usually melt the butter before I add to to this pancake recipe, so I normally just put it in with the other liquids.

After the batter has been mixed thoroughly and is a good consistency, pour or spoon a portion of it on to the pan. When the pancake is set on one side, flip it over to the other side.

If the pancake does not turnover easily, then it is probably not quite done on that side yet. Pancakes should be golden brown when they are finished.

Use more batter for larger pancakes and less for smaller pancakes. It's a good idea to have plate next to you or at least near by , so you can easily move finished pancakes to make space on the pan for more batter. Also, I like to cover them with another plate or bowl to keep them warm.

Nothing says a perfect weekend morning like freshly made pancakes. This pancake recipe goes well with any of these basic egg recipes.
