Fruit Smoothie Recipes

Fruit smoothie recipes are great for making a healthy vegetarian snack that is easy to eat when you are in a hurry. They are also an easy vegetarian breakfast, even a vegetarian lunch.

All you need is a blender and a little creativity to make great fruit smoothies for a satisfying snack. Here a few of my favorite smoothie recipes:

Peanut Butter & Banana with Hint of Chocolate

1 banana
1 cup of peanut butter
1/2 cup of low-fat, plain yogurt (or non-dairy yogurt substitute)
1 cup of ice (add more or use less if needed)
1/2 cup of milk or water
Squirt of chocolate sauce (optional)

Cut banana into small chunks and place in a blender. Add peanut butter, yogurt , ice, and add a tiny squirt chocolate sauce if you want. This makes your snack a bit more interesting.

Blend ingredients on a lower setting until it is at the desired consistency. If you find that this smoothie is too thick, add a little water or milk.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

1 banana
1/2 cup of strawberries (fresh or frozen is fine)
1/2 cup low-fat yogurt (plan or strawberry)
1 cup of ice (add more or use less if necessary)
1/2 cup milk or water

Slice banana into small pieces and place in a blender with strawberries. Then, add yogurt and ice.

Blend until smooth. If this smoothie is too thick, use a little water or milk. If you want a thicker smoothie, add a bit more yogurt.

Berry Blast Smoothie

1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cup raspberries
1/2 cup strawberries
1/2 cup of low-fat yogurt (plain, strawberry or blueberry)
1 cup of ice (add more or use less if necessary)
1/2 cup of milk or water

Place berries, yogurt, and ice in the blender. Mix on lower setting until it is a desired consistency.

Fresh or frozen fruit is fine. Consider using multiple types of berries in your fruit smoothie.

There are many other great fruit smoothie recipes that make great vegetarian snacks. Making smoothies at home as opposed to buying them allows you to save some money and probably quite a few calories as well.

These are also great for a quick and easy vegetarian breakfast, lunch or snack share with friends.

Just use more of the ingredients than are listed for each of the fruit smoothie recipes, as they are designed to be single servings.
